Timberland started over 40 years ago with a boot called Timberland Work Boot, with a focus on footwear, which is often known colloquially as "Timbs." Timberland footwear is inspired by form and function, the original yellow boot was made from full-grain nubuck leather upper, marketed towards people intending outdoor use initially. The company's sales more than tripled in the '90s—the same time the boots became a huge part of hip-hop and urban culture.
